Reverend Patrick Mecham came to the First
Presbyterian Church of Elko in 2004 from Spokane,
Washington.
He and his wife, Melissa, are active church
participants, bringing a wealth of talent and
enthusiasm to the church. Their children are also
participants in a variety of the church's youth
activities.
Melissa, who works as a counselor at Carlin
High School, helps train the church's Stephen
Ministers, participates in the choir and Bible study
groups, and has presented a variety of educational
programs to our church family.
Pastor Pat, as he is best known to all, is an
accomplished musician and singer. He sings tenor in
the choir and has been literally instrumental in
expanding the church's music program to include a
jazz band, youth choir, and kids' choir.
His engaging and thought provoking services and
sermons are always presented with enthusiasm, good
humor, humility, and reverence for the Word of God.
He is active in the community and available to
help solve problems and provide comfort and a
compassionate and understanding ear.
He particularly enjoys his work with children and
youth, who collectively greet him at each Sunday's
children's sermon with a hearty, "Hi, Pastor Pat!"
He leads the Kid's and Children's Choirs, and the
Jazz Band, which has many youth members. He spends
most Sunday afternoons and evenings participating in
many of the church's youth activities. He is also
often present on youth trips, such as waterskiing
adventures at the South Fork Reservoir.
Pastor Pat often states, "I've been having more
fun at this church than at any of my previous
churches!" He has served as pastor at a variety of
churches in his long ministerial career, so he
brings a wealth of expertise and experience to our
church. We feel blessed to have Pastor Pat leading
our church family into the new millennium.
